Child Support in Saskatchewan

Base child support comes from the Federal Child Support Tables using the paying parent's gross annual income and number of children. These table amounts are presumptive - courts use them unless there's good reason not to.

Beyond table amounts, parents share 'section 7' special expenses proportionally based on income: childcare, health care not covered by insurance, educational expenses, and extracurricular activities.

When children spend at least 40% of time with each parent, the set-off approach applies. Each parent's table amount is calculated and the difference is paid. Special expenses are still shared proportionally.

Saskatchewan's Maintenance Enforcement Office handles enforcement of support orders, including wage garnishment, license suspension, and other collection tools.
